Gordon Brown cuts his successor's salary

Oh, how we laughed -  but then we're not SamCam whining on about a new kitchen (something that is "her right" according to the Daily Telegraph!).

 Legend

Apparently, on Brown's orders, and it must have been one of the last orders he gave, the Prime Minister's remuneration package was cut from £194,000 to £150,000.  This had been arranged with such stealth that no formal announcement was ever made.  So, Cameron strode into Downing Street blissfully unaware that he would, as Prime Minister, be earning only marginally more than he had as the leader of the Opposition.  How it must have pained him therefore to have to announce a cut of five per cent across the board in ministerial salaries.  Over the course of a five-year parliament, the personal loss to Cameron will be in excess of £250,000, and this is not counting the pension benefits.

My heart bleeds.
