Tories forfeit £101,500 in donations

The Conservatives have had to forfeit two donations totalling £101,500 after the donors were deemed to be "impermissible". According to the Electoral Commission the party accepted a donation of £100,000 on 13 April 2006 from a Joanna Kate King, but as she was not on the electoral register at the time of the donation it is not allowed. They also had a donation of £1,500 received on August 26 2004 rejected as it was from an "unidentifiable source".

As the party has voluntarily forfeited the donations they will not face any legal action.
